Gergely PÉTERFY

Born in 1966 in Budapest. Studied Classics, also in Budapest. From 1994 to 2011, he taught at the University of Miskolc, was a newspaper editor, and presented TV and radio programmes. Since 1994, he has published two collections of short stories, one fable-based novel, a volume of journalistic writing, and five novels. His work has been turned into films, plays, and radio plays. He was the president of the Hungarian Publishers’ and Booksellers’ Association. His works have been published in German, Serbian and Czech. He is the winner of the József Attila, Márai, Déry and Mészöly Miklós prizes. His novel, The Stuffed Barbarian, won the Aegon Prize in 2015. He lives in Italy.
