The Ravine is the first volume of a continuing identity thriller, in which the author tells the antecedents of a particularly complicated family history.
The setting is a quiet alley in a small Sicilian town in the middle of a valley preparing for Christmas, where a tense countdown begins with ominous omens. A man waits for the truth, a writer for DNA results, a novel for its characters. Meanwhile, we can only be certain of this: “Things can only happen one way, namely the way they happened.” But how did they happen? What can be done with the situation when it turns out that hardly anything is true of what we knew, believed, and thought about ourselves and our family until now?
After his family novel Anna Mikecs – Lullaby, the author wanted to write the story of the fathers, but in the end, the story began to write him.
